Sheet Music
I
have gotten tons of emails over the years, from all over the world, requesting
sheet music for various soundtracks. Your kind words
have been an inspiration and are deeply appreciated. Unfortunately, there is no
sheet music currently available for any of my music.
Most
composers (like myself) who create custom music scores for games, film and
television programs are hired on a "work for hire" basis. This means
that the composer is paid a flat fee to create the music, but the game
publisher or film/TV producer owns the copyright to that music. They have the
legal right to exploit the music in whatever way they see fit.
Microsoft
controls the copyrights to a large portion of my published work and has assigned the administration of music publishing to
Warner/Chappell Music. They are responsible for music licensing and sheet
music. Unfortunately, they have chosen not to create and distribute sheet music
of my work at this point.
There
are two options.
Option
#1)
You
could try writing to Warner/Chappell Music or Microsoft Music Publishing to ask
when they are planning to publish sheet music for the music scores. Be aware however that these are very
big companies. The chances are slim that the people who answer the phone or
open the mail will have any power to respond. If there are
enough people who want sheet music for my work, I'm sure they would consider
publishing it.

There
is nothing illegal about transcribing the sheet music yourself if you follow
these rules:
a.
It must be for personal use or an educational institution.
b.
You can not give away or sell the sheet music that you have created.
c.
You can not make money from the sheet music you create without permission (a
license) from Warner/Chappell Music.
Any
variations to these rules constitute copyright infringement and is
illegal. Please contact me if you
have any questions.
I
hope this helps answer the question - "where can I get sheet music
for...". As things progress, I will post the news on this site. Please do
keep in touch. I love hearing from
all of you. And I wish you all the
best in your musical endeavors!
